will ich in meiner nächsten Sendung eine ganze Pflanze senden; Boronia Backeriana wächst in der Nähe von Ulladullah zu einer Staude von etwas über zwei Fuss hoch. Der Standort ist eine sumpfige Haide, die sich unmittelbar über das Meeresufer erhebt. Die Pflanze wächst am besten u vollkommensten am Rande des Sumpfwassers, sie kommt auch im trocknen Sande vor, aber viel kümmerlicher. Da Sie sagen, dass Bor. Bak. nur von den blue Mountains bekannt war, erwartete ich, dass ich dieselbe auf der Haide der Hochebene finden würde, wo sich trockene u sumpfige Haiden befinden, konnte aber gestern keine Spur davon sehen, wie wohl ich meilenweit die Haide nach allen Richtungen durchkreuzte. Was ich dort gesammelt habe, werde ich in meine nächste Sendung einschliessen. Ein Gefährte der gestern mit mir war, sagt mir, dass die Haide der Hochebene erst ungefähr um Weihnachten im besten Flor stehe, u jetzt gerade ist auch die Vegetation dieses Jahr später, da wir noch viel kaltes Wetter hier haben. Die Eucalypten fangen jetzt gerade an zu blühen. Solanem verbascum ist hier zahlreich, will jedoch ein Exemplar senden, der Gewissheit wegen. In den Berggründen u Wäldern blühen die Bäume noch nicht. No 123, die korallenähnliche Pflanze, fand ich auf der Hochebene auf einem kahlen mit dem Boden horizontalen Felsen.

Morgen will ich an eine frische Localität gegen das Meeresufer zugehen, u am Montag gedenke ich eine Reise zu Fuss nach Brooman, welches 20 Meilen von hier ist, zu machen, u mich dort einige Tage aufzuhalten, da es ein guter Ort für Blumen sein soll. Ich bitte Sie innigst ein wenig Geduld mit mir zu haben, wen ich Ihre Erwartungen vielleicht bis jetzt noch nicht erfüllt habe

grows in the neighbourhood of Ulladulla to a shrub of somewhat over two feet tall. The locality is a swampy heath that rises immediately above the seashore. The plant grows best and most completely on the edge of the swamp water, it also occurs in the dry sand, but much more puny. As you say that Bor. bak. was only known from the Blue Mountains,

I expected that I would find it on the heath of the plateau, where there are dry and swampy heaths, but yesterday could see no trace of it, although I crossed the heath for miles in all directions. What I have collected there, I will include in my next consignment. A companion who was with me yesterday said to me that the heath of the plateau only flowers best at Christmas, and just now the vegetation of this year is later too, since we still have much cold weather here. The eucalypts are just beginning to flower now.

Tomorrow I want to go to a fresh locality towards the coast, and on Monday I propose to walk to Brooman, which is 20 miles from here and spend some days there, because it is said to be a good place for flowers.
