My dear Baron
I have been so much away from home, and so much engaged otherwise that I really have not had time to reply to your letter respecting the Moreton Bay ash until the present. I may now state, that although I know this tree well, and am well acquainted with the northern parts of this colony, I never met with it in any part — nor have I heard of its being found far south of Brisbane.
I hope you have received Mr Betches specimens which may give you some new localities for species, but nothing new. Will you kindly give me the name of the enclosed. The flowers are said to be very sweet scented. I am looking anxiously forward to getting fruit specimens of those

PS I shall be glad if you will also inform me if you are quite satisfied that the true is to be regarded as indigenous to this colony — or rather does it extend as far north as Jervis Bay
