To Baron von Mueller
Dear Sir
Seeing in the Argus of this morning a notice of your report on the “Jack Hallis” grass
I take the liberty of sending a sample of Grass I think is the one you refer to the
variety I forward is rapidly spreading over the whole of my grounds especially over
the the
uncultivated portions, cattle do not like it and it is not nutritious.

Word repeated in going from one page to the next.
No 2 is a grass I found here a few years ago it remains green all winter is very tussocky
but does not spread freely cattle are very fond of it I sowed a row of it in the Dandenong
Ranges & during the whole of the winter it grows & remains green.
No 3 is an annual Very soft is very easily pulled up spreads rapidly & is eagerly
eaten by cattle but whether nutritave or not I cannot tell, it is a very easy grass
I trust you will not think me troublesome in thus trespassing upon your valuable time.
I am
Yours faithfully
John C. Cole
