Justified in detail in M to G. Berry, 5 October 1883. In the Additional Estimates tabled in Parliament on 18 October 1883 (Parliam en tary P aper, 1883, 2 S.–B.–No. 21, p. 7) the amount of £200 was included in the sums for the Chief Secretary under 'Miscellaneous' as 'Expense of publishing Decades, &c', without specifiying it was for the Government Botanist.

In the Additional Estimates for the Public Works (p. 20), under 'Sundry Works, Melbourne', the description of the previous sum of £450 for 'Iron Annexe to the Botanic Museum' was changed to 'Iron Annexe and Repairs to the Botanic Museum'.
