Letter not found. The text given here is from a report of a special meeting of the National Agricultural Society held on 19 October 1883, Leader. 20 October 1883, p. 13.
[The object of the meeting was to hear and discuss a paper read by M. L. L. Smith on Forest Culture and Eucalyptus Trees. Mr. Smith handed in a note from Baron von Mueller regretting his unavoidable absence, and forwarding a work by an American author on a similar subject.
