Identical entries for the same day record letters enclosing 'Orchid paper' to R. D. Fitzgerald, C. H. Hartmann, and B. Crow of Toowoomba, Qld. The 'Orchid paper' is the part of a report of the meeting of the Queensland Philosophical Society held on 23 August 1883 (Brisbane courier, 1 September 1883, p. 7) that contains Bailey's description of three species of orchid, one from a specimen growing in Bowen Park and the other two each collected jointly by Crow and Hartmann. They are re-described in Bailey (1885), pp. 10-11, with a footnote:
The three plants marked with an asterisk were published in the newspaper report of the last meeting of the Queensland Philosophical Society, a publication scarcely meeting the requirements of scientific currency.
