Das Schicken der Beschreibung einer neuen aus Ihres Gegend, lieber Herr Holtze, erregt von neuem in mir den Wunsch, Samen aller dortigen Acacien zu erlangen, da noch keine derselben in europäische Gewächshäuser eingeführt wurde. Ich habe an Hr Foelsche wegen 2 noch unbenannter blattloser Pflanzen geschrieben, davon eine am Liverpool-Flusse, die andere am Gilbert-Flusse vorkommt. Haben Sie Bekannte dort? Das Dendrobium Foelschei ist auch für europäische Gewächshäuser ganz erwünscht. Vielleicht könnten Sie einmal mit dem Dampfschiff eine Kiste Knollen senden. Die Fracht würde ich gern bezahlen u. auch etwas extra für das Herbeibringen. Giebt es bei Ihnen ausser diesem Dendrobium und den weiterverbreiteten gar keine andere epiphytische Orchideen?

Wie wäre es, wenn Sie die Eingebornen mit Körben in entlegnetere

entlegenere?

Gegenden sendeten, um Allerlei in Blüthe u Frucht heim zu bringen, was Sie ja trocknen könnten. 2-3 Tage würden sich Pflanzen in Körben zugedeckt halten. Für ein paar £, die ich ersetzen würde, liesse sich wohl viel thun.

Do you have any acquaintances there? is also quite desired for European glasshouses. Perhaps you could send a case of bulbs some time per steamship. I would be happy to pay for the freight and a little extra for getting them. Are there no other epiphytic orchids at all in your area apart from this Dendrobium and the widely distributed ?

gilesii was based on specimens collected by Alfred Giles in the vicinity of Port Darwin, and named under the joint authorship of M and F. M. Bailey in B82.07.04, pp. 151-2.

should also be carefully searched for other new things.

How would it be if you were to send Aborigines with baskets into more distant areas, to bring home a variety of plants in flower and fruit, which you could then dry? Plants in covered baskets would keep two or three days. For a few £s, which I would refund, a lot could probably be achieved.

Very small species of etc. are always very desirable.
