Dear Sir,
I am directed by the members of the Administrative Council of the Geographical Society
of Australasia to convey to you their thanks for the two works which you have lately
presented to the Society.
Viz: The New Hebrides

Campbell (1873). M contributed an appendix on the botany; see B73.13.01.
& Papuan Plants.

Presumably the first part of M's Descriptive notes on Papuan plants, comprising B75.11.01 and subsequent fascicles to 1877.
I am also desired to express to you their regret that you do not find yourself able
to actively assist in forming the Society in Victoria.
They hope however that the benefit of your advice will be acquired to the Society
& they have directed me to act on your suggestion & communicate with Mr E. Giles on
the subject.
