I need not say, dear Mr Best, that I will be happy to see the members of the Field-Naturalists' Club at the "Herbarium"; and as you wish me to mention an afternoon of Saturday in
July, I would suggest that of the 21st. It would be well, to mention, in the Circular
not Museum but "Herbarium", — because a real botanic Museum was never formed for the
general public; that portion of my collection, which was to commence the Museum of
vegetable products, having gone to the technologic Museum in 1867; so that only one
room since 1857 remained ever since for Museum-purposes, and that contains the "herbarium".

M's labels at this date used 'PHYTOLOGIC MUSEUM OF MELBOURNE'; in the report of its
meeting of 9 July, the Club reminded members of the visit to the 'National Botanical Herbarium' on 21
July (Argus, 13 July 1883, p. 3).
I shall be personally in attendance on the Members of the Club, if the 21. July should
prove a convenient day for their meeting.
Regardfully
your
Ferd. von Mueller
