Sie diesen Lohn aus königlicher Hand längst verdient. Sie werden sich um so mehr darüber
freuen können, da an diesem Anerkennungszeichen Ihrer vieljährigen dortigen Forschungen,

Accept my best wishes, highly respected friend, for the distinction which was conferred
on you by the throne of England on the occasion of the last birthday celebration of
our gracious Queen.
As senior of the natural scientists of New Zealand you long ago would have earned
this reward from the Royal hand. You will rejoice about it all the more, since your
blossoming family can derive pleasure as well from this sign of approbation of your
many years of research there.
