The enclosed plant, dear Prof Tate, was one of the critical species, laid aside by me for careful study. I find it a second ,

( E. behrii ) had been erected in Sonder (1852a), under the joint authority of Sonder and M.
and it shows, that I was justified to restore that genus to . The description is gone to the May Number of the Chemist;

and I was pressed to furnish an article for the number and had no other plant at hand, on which I could write. Otherwise it would have gone to the R.S. of S.A.

Specimens collected by Tate in NT during his visit with a SA parliamentary delegation in early 1882; see Sowden (1882). In M to R. Tate, 2 May 1882 (in this edition as 82-05-02a), M suggested that Tate send a complete series of the specimens collected on that trip.
