is now printed and ready for issue. With approval of your hon. predecessor the work
was brought out by a tender in the establishment of Mess. M'Carron, Bird & Coy
and from the vote of the Gov. Botanist, the whole expenditure for the 1000 copies
being about £220.-, so that the price might be fixed at 5/ for each copy.

It devolves on me now, to ask respectfully your instruction on the following points:
1, whether you approve of 750 copies being sent to the Gov. Printing Office, and 250
copies being kept for the litterary interchanges of my establishment and for the encouragement
of amateur collectors &c
2, whether you approve of Members of Parliament being supplied with copies, and if
so, whether they should be distributed by the Gov. Printing Office or otherwise
3, whether you approve of a number of copies being placed at the disposal of the London
Agents of Victorian Gov. publications, Mess. Trübner & Co, and Mr Geo. Robertson through
the Gov. Printing Office of Melbourne.
4, whether you approve of 25 copies being as usual given to the public Library for
exchanges abroad.

On 21 March Berry minuted: 'The work should be widely and judiciously distributed
in quarters where it will be appreciated. I think bearing this in mind Dr Mueller should submit a plan of distribution which
I will approve. The price for sale 5/ a copy'. The Undersecretary, T. Wilson, forwarded
this note to M the same day.
See M to G. Berry, 23 March 1883.
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obedient servant
Ferd. von Mueller,
Gov. Botanist.
