with foliage similar to the enclosed fragment? It is represented as a shrub of several feet with a silvery appearance & growing in sandy soil. The one head of flowers sent to me was of a hemispherical or globular shape with an involucre of eight bracts of a heart-shape. Each floret had a pappus like a composite flower. If you think the plant new, I will write to Shepherd (who I think knows the collector) for further specimens.
Though I am in some affliction just now, I must not forget to wish you the Compts of this joyful Season.
