I am greatly beholden to you, dear Mr Jackson, for your attentive kindness of sending
me a copy of your Gerard and of your Turner.
These are two most important works historically and for tracing chronologically authorities.
You deserve great credit for rescuing these two publications from oblivion, and for
proving such an excellent commentator.

Gerard (1876); W. Turner (1877). Jackson's editions included notes and a biographical
sketch in each case. For Gerard he includes both 1596 and 1599 editions of the Catalogus, and cross references to his Herbal (Gerard (1597)); there is a copy at MEL of each
of these editions.

will get also a copy. Did you receive my edition of Wittstein,
brought out a few years ago on private expense of mine with additions. If you have
