MS found with a specimen of Callistemon pallidus (MEL 2114999). MS annotated by M 'Answ 14/11/82'; however, the letter is unlikely to have reached Melbourne and be delivered to M in time for him to reply to it on the day on which it was written. M's letter not found.
The front of the envelope that originally enclosed the specimen to which Falck refers, date-stamped 'NO 14 82', addressed to 'Baron Ferd. von Mueller K.C.M.G. M.D. Ph.D. F.R.S. | Government Botanist | Melbourne ' and endorsed 'Botanik Speciment only from C. F. Falck', now accompanies the letter. This was found with an unrelated specimen (MEL 221385), having been used by M as scrap paper on which to record collecting details.

Hochgeehrter Hr. Baron.
ergebenst
Ihr
C. F. Falck.

Highly esteemed Baron,
I have found the Callistemon bush in flower now, and hasten to send you a twig; it flowers yellow and accordingly would be C. salignus from your determination.

Falck's discovery led to a published note from M; see B83.03.01.
Another species is found here that flowers red-brown but is not yet in flower at present; generally I have found the one with red flowers eaten by the cattle this year, but I have a poor specimen from last year that I enclose.
Your devoted
C. F. Falck.
