The description of the species will appear in the Oct. Number of the Southern Science
Record.
I have made special monetary arrangements now for obtaining fuller collections from
thence.

M gave the plant the name D
idymocarpus l
awesii in B82.10.03, p. 229; the specimen MEL 574628 has a label in M's hand identifying
the species as 'Synaphanthera lawessii, F. v. M. | Near Mt Owen Stanley | 1882. Rev. W. G. Lawes' and another immediately beneath it 'S. E. Papua | 1882. Rev W. G.
Lawes.' No record of a published genus Synaphanthera has been found.

i.e. from New Guinea. H. Forbes (1882) had described the species from a collection
made in Sumatra.
