My Lord,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 15th inst. and to thank you very much for your prompt and courteous, as well as lucid reply.

I am glad to find that we are so far right about the poisonous nature of the bulbous plant, but a great many old residents have an idea that the other is the cause of "Yellows", and it would be a great favor to oblige us with your invaluable opinion, which would set the matter at rest.
As you desire I do myself the honor to enclose some specimens in flower which may enable you better to determine their quality.
The past has been a very bad season for the "Yellows", it having appeared in localities where it was formerly unknown. Even cattle have been affected. I have also found the plant " " growing quite strong in newly plowed ground.
