Dear Baron
I have the pleasure to inform you that, at the last evening meeting
of the Fellows of this Society, you were, upon the nomination of the Council, unanimously
elected an
Honorary
Member.

On the recommendation of the Council of the Society, M was elected as an honorary member at the Monthly Meeting, 11 September 1882 (Papers and proceedings and report of the Royal Society of Tasmania for 1882
(1883), p. xxxix). At the meeting of the Council on 5 September 1882, 'It was moved by Mr [C. H.] Grant, seconded by Fr Russell Young, and carried, "That the undermentioned Corresponding
Members of the Royal Society Tasmania be recommended for election as Honorary members
under Rule No. 18, viz, Baron Ferd. von Mueller, K.C.M.G., &c & The Revd. J. E. Tenison-Woods,
F.L.S., F.R.G.S. &c' (RSA/A/5, minute book, Royal Society of Tasmania Archives).
