Herewith, dear Sir Joseph, an other proofsheet of the Species-census of Australian plants.

B83.03.04.
In the division of the Acotyledoneae I shall quote throughout your Flora Tasmaniae, as that is the only work, in which as yet the Cryptogams of any part of Australia are treated connectedly.

The evasculares groups had been treated by specialists in Hooker (1855–60), vol. 2, by Berkeley (1860), Harvey (1860), Mitten (1860), Babington & Mitten (1860) and W. Wilson (1860). No special prominence is given to that volume in the listing in B83.03.04, pp 136-9, which deals only with the vascular Acotyledoneae (Rhizospermae, Lycopodineae and Filices). M planned to produce a census volume on the evacsculares (M to G. Bentham, 8 November 1882). No such volume was published as part 2 of this edition or as part 2 of the second edition (B89.12.03), but M did, however, prepare an elaborate census of Australian cryptogams, the MS of which is in the library, Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, where Hooker (1855-6) vol. 2 was used as the main citation source.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller
