I have the honor by direction to inform you that I have this day forwarded to your address per Messrs McCulloch, & Co a parcel containing a piece of sub-fossil wood from the gold drift at Haddon

Vic. In an undated memorandum, F. Krausé noted: 'The specimens of fossil fruit and wood etc. from Haddon, intended for transmission to Professor Roscoe will be found described in Baron von Mueller's memoirs of the Geological Survey of Victoria, copies of which are enclosed with the specimens' (Letter press copy book 1881-2, School of Mines and Industries, Ballarat, p. 422). See B82.05.02, p.44. 'Professor Roscoe' not identified.
