My dear Baron
Accompanying this letter is a small parcel containing the Capsule, of, to me, an unknown , and as it is the only one I ever saw I thought I could not do better than to send it to you for identification.
I procured it from a man who had been in my employment, and who went to shear sheep on Sir Thomas Elder's Station at Paratoo in the North East about 185 miles from Adelaide. The man was going to some of the out stations, and picked it up under some good sized Gum trees growing on the banks of a creek. He did not know what it was and tried it with his knife as you will notice where he has cut it. I imagine from the coulour of the woody part that the flowers must be red. If I can do anything for you should you require any of the tree I shall be glad.
I hope you are quite well, and with very kind regards
I am my dear Baron
yours very truly
Geo. McEwin
