Sie erhalten heute pr Corea den Rest meiner gesammelten Fungis für diese Season da
die Regenzeit bereits seit einem Monat aufgehört hat u jetzt nicht mehr vorkommen
Ich finde die Pilze sehr intressant ihrer mannigfaltiegen Formen u Farben u wünsche
die oberflächiege Classifierung durch Ihre gefl Mittheilungen zu lernen um mit besseren
Erfolg nächste Season dieselben zu sammeln Ich bin während der Regenzeit 6 Wochen
fast täglich 5 M. nach dem Shrub gegangen wo dieselben fast ausschliesslich an den
zergangen Bäumen zu finden waren, da die Umgebungen von Cootown meistens zu sandig
sind um Pilze zu sammeln Ich bitte Ihre gefl Mittheilungen was werthvolle oder selten
u neue spc sind besonders die 2 spc in Spiritus gesandt ob solche neu sind u erbitte
den botanischen Namen derselben bin darum oft hier befragt geworden.
Die Flora ist augenblicklich sehr unbedeutend ausgenommen Acacien die sich jetzt entwicklen

Ich hoffe innigst durch Ihre Güte mit den Fernrohr baldigst beehrt zu werden da in
einigen Wochen die Prospekting Parthey in den höheren Wald Regionen abzugehen gedenken
u ich gerne diese Gelegenheit benutzen möchte da einzelnd niemand hinsichtlich der
Eingebornen diese Gegenden passiren kann u in den halbdunkeln Jungeln die hohen Bäume
mit Schlingpflanzen verwachsen mit dem nackten Auge sehr wenig zu entdecken ist u
besonders klein parasitische Gewächse über sehen werden Sie werden hoffentlich die
übersandte neue Lagerstomia Blatt u Frucht erhalten haben u verspreche so viel als
es mir möglich ist die aufgegebene neue spc Ihnen das Material zu liefern u erbitte
was sonst neu oder selten sein mag in den letzten Sendungen gefl baldigst zu bemerken

Die beifolgende Blätter u Frucht ist ein Baum mittler grösse die Zweige 8-10 F. lang
niederhangend vom Stam ähnlich wie Trauerweide S. babilonica dunkelgrau glatte Baumrinde
bisher diese spc nicht gesehen solte es neu sei bitte baldigst Ihre Mittheilungen
habe gegenwärtig nur 2 Bäume gefunden

Dear Baron,
Today you will receive per Corea the rest of the fungi that I collected this season, as the rainy season has ended
already a month ago and nothing more is found now. I find the fungi very interesting
in their manifold forms and colours, and wish to learn their basic classification
through your respected communications, so that I can collect them more successfully
next season. I went for 5 miles to the shrub country almost daily for 6 weeks during
the wet season, where I found them almost exclusively on rotting trees because the
surroundings of Cootown
are generally too sandy to collect fungi. I request your respected communications
on what is valuable or rare and new species. Particularly the 2 specimens sent in
spirit; if they are new, I request their botanical name. about which I have frequently
been asked here.
The flora is at present very insignificant, except
s which are developing now. Respectfully request species name of the two previously
sent
species in flower and in fruit, No 2 and 5.
I sincerely hope to be honoured soon through your generosity with the binoculars,
because the prospecting party to the higher forest regions intends to depart in a
few weeks and I should like to use this opportunity because nobody can pass through
these regions alone on account of the Aborigines. With the naked eye very little can
be discovered in the semi-dark jungles, with tall trees interwoven with climbing and
trailing plants, and small parasitic plants in particular are overlooked. You will,
I hope, have received the leaf and fruit of the new
that was sent. I promise to procure material of the new species sent, as far as it
is possible for me, and request kindly to be notified soon of anything else perhaps
new or rare in the recent transmissions.

dark green shiny leaf and red fruit base (capsule) sent, as well as genus and species
name of No. 362, flower fruit and leaf sent.
Request respectfully some Fragmentas, often very useful to me as guidance.

The enclosed leaves and fruit, from a medium-sized tree, branches 8-10 feet long,
pendulous from the trunk similar to the Weeping Willow
, dark grey, smooth bark. Not seen this species before. Should it be new, please notify
soon. Have found only 2 trees of it to the present.
