Dear Dr Mueller
I am in receipt of your letter enq[uirin]g about the sending of dried plants to Canada.
I believe that anything that can be sent by mail to the U. S. can also be sent to
Canada — as she is in the Postal Union. — Canadian & U.S. rates are alike & any books
or packages addressed to me are delivered free of duty. Any thing you send here for
Mr [...] I will have forwarded. I sent you, not long ago, a copy of our [...] report
in which you will find maps showing northern limits of Canadian [trees] which will
probably interest you.

Geological and natural history survey of Canada (1881) was accompanied by three maps
in a portfolio, map 3 'showing the general northern limits of the principal forest
trees of the Dominion of Canada east of the Rocky Mountains'. The map, by Robert Bell,
has been digitized and is available at
