I feel, dear Mr Ramsay, that I ought not to send merely a formal receipt for the splendid
enumeration of the Crustacea by Mr Haswell,
but should specially express my thanks to the trustees of the Sydney-Museum for the
attention shown me in presenting this volume; and more, every acknowledgement is due
to the trustees for the measures taken by them, to see through the able Mr Haswell
and through your own excellent supervision such large material of Crustacea brought
together and elucidated. In former years I have responded to the calls of zoologic
friends in Europe, — some friends since my University time — to furnish them with
specimens of Australian Crustacea, but if I should acquire additional material now,
I will forward it for elaboration to your grand institution.

Haswell (1882).

M was not consistent in his support for the Sydney zoologists: see specifically for
crustacea, M to F. von Krauss, 9 August 1884, and more generally, Lucas (2018), especially n. 45, and Lucas (2013a), pp. 22-3.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller
