This day, dear Sir Joseph, I have written my letter of thanks to the Prince of Wales
in reply to a letter, signed by HRH. as President of the International Exhibition
Commission of the British Empire, which letter accompanied a beautiful bronze-medal
as reward received by me as a juror of the British Commission.
1
Letters not found. The medal that M received, for services to the Australian International
Exhibitions in Sydney, 1879-80, and Melbourne, 1880-1, is at the Melbourne Museum.
In my letter of thanks I alluded also to the Noblemen and leaders in Science, who
in England had exerted themselves so much, as you have done, for the Australian Exhibitions
as member of the Royal Commission in Britain. I know from experiences since 1854 how
much time for duties of this kind is absorbed.
It was very generous of your Commission, to award all the jurors in the British Division
here a medal.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
