Mit gegenwärtiger Post, hochgeehrter Herr, erlaube ich mir, Ihnen ein jüngst angekommenes Exemplar des "Statistical Regist[er"] von Süd-Australien zu senden, welches wichtige Document für Notizen Ihres weit verbreiteten Almanachs Ihnen willkommen sein wird. Es wäre mir lieb, wenn Sie auch Herrn Dr. Behm einen Einblick in diesen Band thun lassen wollen für seine "Mittheilungen". Vielleicht haben Sie aber bereits dieselbe Publication direct bekommen von Adelaide. Im Lauf der letzten Jahre habe ich mehrere male Ihnen Drucksachen gesandt, denkend dass solche Ihnen für den Almanach dienlich sein möchten, aber nie erfahren, ob solche richtig ankommen. Ich habe stets solche litterarische Sendungen frankirt. Dennoch kann Ihnen vielleicht manchmal Ausgabe für Porto entstanden sein, was ich bedauern würde.

Probably the item cited as 'Statistical Register of South Australia for the year 1880 (Adelaide, 1881)' (i.e. South Australia, Office of the Government Statist (1881)), in the list of sources for the information on Australia in Almanach de Gotha, 125th year, 1883, pp. 793-4. The title was not used in the previous edition of the Almanach, which instead for South Australia cited secondary sources.
which important document will be welcome to you for notes for your widely distributed Almanach. I would be pleased if you will also allow Dr Behm a look in this volume for his Mittheilungen. Perhaps, however, you have already received the same publication direct from Adelaide. In the course of the last year I have several times sent printed items to you, thinking that such would be useful for the Almanach, but never heard whether they arrived safely. I have always paid postage on such literary consignments. Nevertheless perhaps sometimes expense for postage can have arisen for you, which I would regret.
