I hoped, dear Mr Dyer, that I should be able to send you the photogram of the large fruit of by this post, but it is not quite ready; it will however come to you by next mail, as well as photographic illustrations of the male amentum of that species and & of M. spiralis.

See M to W. Thiselton-Dyer, 18 October 1881 and 16 February 1882 (in this edition as 82-02-16b).
Some other material is accumulating, but the species occur only in wide distances from here, some locally only, others in places out of all regular lines of communication. Therefore not even with money the getting can be forced. Well, "Rome was also not built in one day," and we must regard this affair concerning the Cycads a matter of time. I hope however to get for you, what at the present stage of colonisation can be got, in the course of 1882.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
