The Honble Baron F. von Mueller K.C.M.G. &c
I beg to state, I am in receipt of your kind letter of 11th Nov last
with enclosed Pamphlets for which I return my warmest thanks, I have distributed
the Circulars & have obtained the promise of several persons to collect specimens
of Nat plants. Unfortunately the season is over for our plants, Aug & Sept being the
time to collect specimens they are then out in flower. However I beg to enclose you
the leaf & flower of the plant I mentioned in my last letter to you,
if you will kindly determine the name I should feel obliged.

also distributed to newspapers, requesting specimens 'of plants in a pressed and dried
state, particularly from districts far inland or recently settled'.

I hasten to return my warmest thanks for the tobacco seed you sent.
In your letter you mention the Irwin district
I am sorry to say I have no friends there who would collect the seeds you mention
Corpl Jones like myself has left the Northern district he is now stationed at York
& I have written him asking for specimens of his pressed plants though I have received
no reply.

The forest for miles around me abounds in the most beautiful flowers I have seen far
surpassing the North in variety, I made an excursion yesterday for some plants but
the forest was burning & I had to come away without having obtained a single plant.
I find great difficulty in setling the colour of flowers the enclosed is a brilliant
crimson when blooming but it has faded in pressing. Trusting your are in health
I remain,
Your Obedy
