[This species has accidentally been overlooked, both in the Fl. Austral for your Colony, and in Prof Tate's list. I collected beautiful specimens on the Onkaparinga more than 30 years ago!

SA. M did not name this species in B64.13.03, his treatment of Lobeliaceae before sending his collection to Kew for Bentham (1883-78), vol. 4 (published 1869); see M to J. Hooker, 25 January 1867. When the species was mentioned in B76.03.01, p. 42, no SA collection was listed. M's other uses of the name are in colony-specific treatments for Tasmania and Victoria. There is no M specimen from SA listed in AVH or in the Kew Herbarium catalogue (both accessed 23 February 2021).

[I have had a couple of hours spare this afternoon, dear Mr Tepper, and so I have named your plants like all the others. Certainly your excursion into the little known south with Prof. Tate will produce many kinds of interesting things. Are there no algae on your coast?]
