fruiting specimens of Dacrydium Fitzgeraldi, which showed the fruiting characters to be those of Pherosphaera, the size and shape of the fruits being all much like those of P. Hookeriana. Whether Pherosphaera is to be maintained as a genus, or whether it should merge as a section into Dacrydium, depends much on the latitude any one wishes to allow to generic limits in Coniferae, and I am quite willing also to transfer D. Fitzgeraldi to Pherosphaera.

Gardeners' chronicle, 15 October 1881, p. 503 (B81.10.02), had re-published from Gartenflora, vol. 30, pp. 241-2 (B81.13.01), a note by M on Dacrydium. J. Hooker (1867-89), vol. 14, part 4, p. 64, tab. 1383 (issued June 1882) made the new combination Pherosphaera fitzgeraldi , attributing it to 'F. Mueller MS', but did not mention this note.
