In reply to your letter of yesterday, dear Mr Fitzgibbon, let me remark, that no meeting
of the trustees of the R. park has taken place since Councillor Pegdon
was appointed. The International Exhibition
has given so much extrawork, that anything not urgent was deferred; moreover the trustees
do not meet at fixed time, but only in long intervalles, as we come together only when special business arises. Mr Le Souef, the
manager of the Accl. Soc.'s Ground, controls also the R. Park, and as we have no fund for work there except grazing fees,
there is seldom an opportunity to commence any new work, the slender resources being
generally used in the repair of roads, drives and fences.

I think however, that the trustees ought to assemble some time this month for any
additional planting operations to be discussed, and I shall see that our new colleague
is invited and formally introduced to the Board of trustees.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
