R19.
Since some time, dear Mr Jackson, a very lucrative appointment (at £2500 a year) is
held by Mr R Br. Smyth as Manager of a Gold Mining Company in the Madras-Presidency.
If you write to him there, he is sure to come up now to his obligation, as h[i]s tide

Could you kindly send the list of Forrest's plants to Mr Bentham, after you have looked

to it hereafter in the proceed. of the R.S. of N.S. Wales.

John Forrest. B81.13.04. The first post-script paragraph is written cornerwise on the back of the
folio, apparently after the letter was folded.

is written on a separate sheet of paper glued to the front of the folio opposite the
remainder of the letter.
The only change in the details given for M between the 1879 list and the 1881 list is the addition of ‘Care of Dulau and Co., 307 Soho Square’. No further change was made in the 1882 list. The award of his KCMG in 1879 was not reflected in these lists, which do indicate
his CMG.
