Leider ist es post festum, theuerer Freund, jetzt noch etwas in den Jury-Angelegenheiten zu thun, da die Preisrichter jetzt ausser Function sind u nicht wieder zusammengerufen werden können. Ich habe mich selbst über die carpologische Sammlung Ihres Bekannten gefreuet, da ich der erste in Australien, ja in der südl. Hemisphäre war, welcher Bäume und andere Nutzpflanzen der ganzen Erde en gros zog.

Wäre diese Frucht Sammlung unter meine specielle Beurtheilung gekommen, so hätte ich einen Preis sicher dafür empfohlen. Ihr Freund muss sich mit andern Unbeachteten trösten. Ich selbst stellte für einen Californischen Freund ein Dutz grossen Flaschen des schönsten Oliven Öls aus, welches für Californien ein neues Product, aber der Austeller, der die Olive Bäume selbst zog u das Öl selbst presste, erhielt trotz meinen wiederholten Reclamation auch weder Preis noch Anerkennung.

Hoffentlich hat sich Ihre Gesundheits Zustand bleibend gebessert.

since I was the first in Australia, indeed in the Southern Hemisphere, who raised trees and other useful plants of the whole world in bulk.

Had this fruit collection come under my special assessment, I should certainly have recommended a prize for it. Your friend must console himself with the other unnoticed ones. I myself exhibited a dozen large flasks of the most beautiful olive oil, which is a new product for California, for a Californian friend, but the exhibitor,

who grew the olive trees himself and pressed the oil himself, received neither prize nor acknowledgment despite my repeated complaints.
