Nach langem Schweigen, lieber Herr Tepper, nehme ich die Correspondenz wieder mit
Ihnen auf. Die Extra-Arbeiten für die Weltaustellung sind nun ziemlich vorüber, obwohl
ich noch einen Rapport zu schreiben habe, und auch noch von den Commissären der fremden
Länder etwas in Anspruch genommen bin.
Ich beginne nun auch an den noch unbennannten Pflanzen für die Fragmenta zu arbeiten
u habe eben eine Diagnose des
Lasiopetalum Tepperi
entworfen, welche Pflanze Sie mir als eine Varietät von L. Behrii "with remarkable
profusion of flowers" ohne Nummer zusandten aus Yorke Valley. Dieses Gewächs steht
aber näher L. Baueri u L. discolor, es schliesst sich namentlich durch die grossen
Bracteen unter den Kelchen an L. discolor an, obwohl die Blumen nicht so gedrängt
stehen. Kann es ein Hybrid zwischen L Baueri u L. discolor sein? Wächst es zwischen
beiden? u kommt es ganz vereinzelt vor? Dies würde auf Hybridismus hindeuten. Leider
schickten Sie nicht die Frucht, welche uns vielleicht entscheidende Differenzen gezeigt
hätte. Suchen Sie freundlich darnach. An Pflanzen dieser Gruppen findet man Blumen
das ganze Jahr hindurch, u so auch Früchte (reif). Es ist nicht wünschenswerth, dass
Sie etwas über dies neue Lasiopetalum gleich bekannt machen, zumal da es sich auch
an eine westaustralische Art anschliesst, u ich erst Ihre weitere Auskunft abwarten
möchte, bis ich die Beschreibung veröffentliche. Unter welchen Umständen kommt die
Planzen vor? Was ist die frische Blumenfarbe dieses Lasiopetalum?
Da jetzt die Frühlings Flor wieder heranbricht, werden Sie gewiss noch Neues finden,
besonders unter den kleinsten Pflanzen

Mit Comesperma N. 106 habe ich nichts machen können aus Mangel an Frucht. Könnte es
ein Sämling von
sein? Ich habe dieselbe Pflanzen vom Lachlan-Flusse, aber auch ohne Frucht von Mr
Tucker. Vielleicht könnten Sie die Frucht besorgen. Ist die Blume blau?

After a long silence, dear Mr Tepper, I am taking up the correspondence with you again.
The extra work for the International Exhibition
is now almost over, although I have another report to write and I am also still somewhat
in demand from the commissioners of the foreign countries.
I am now also beginning to work on the yet unnamed plants for the Fragmenta and have just drafted a diagnosis of
Lasiopetalum tepper
i, which plant you sent me as a variety of L. behrii "with remarkable profusion of flowers" without a number from Yorke Valley.
This plant, however, stands closer to L. baueri and L. discolor, it is close to L. discolor especially by the large bracts under the calyx, although the flowers do not stand
so close together. Can it be a hybrid between L. baueri and L. discolor? Does it grow between both and does it occur alone? This would indicate hybridization.
Unfortunately you did not send the fruit, which would have perhaps shown us conclusive
differences. Kindly look for it. Flowers on this group are found the whole year through and so also fruits (ripe). It is not desirable
that you make known immediately anything about this new Lasiopetalum, especially since it is also close to a Western Australian species and I should first
like to wait for your further information before I publish the description.
Under what circumstances does the plant occur? What is the fresh colour of the flowers
of this Lasiopetalum?
Now that the spring flora is beginning again, you will certainly find more new things,
particularly among the smallest plants.

I have not been able to make anything of Comesperma no. 106 from lack of fruit. Could it be a seedling of
? I have the same plant from Mr Tucker from the Lachlan River,
but also without fruit. Perhaps you could get the fruit. Is the flower blue?
