Your kind letter, dear Madam, remained unanswered for some days, as I had a great
deal of work in my department. Meanwhile I went purposely to the atelier of a photographer,
to have after about 10 years other poor photograms of mine done, and beg now to offer
for your & your kind sisters acceptance a card of each little picture.
I hope you both will honor me with your carte de visite also now, for my album of
photograms of scientific correspondents.
I am glad of the prospect of obtaining fungs from you & your Lady friends. The little
collection of mosses and lichens arrived, and with them the sketches of fungs. As
my Departmental means are very en-narrowed, and as prosperity has never smiled on
me, I can not afford to be generous, but you will recognize my good will at all events.

With regardful remembrance

Best compliments also to your talented sister.
Kindly remember, that it would not be possible for me to purchase specimens always
at the present remuneration, which I have mainly accorded for the drawings of your
clever hand
