Herrn Königl Botaniker Ferdinand Baron Mueller hochwohlgeboren in Melbourne
Die am 25tn April d. J. abgehaltene General Versammlung der K. K. Gartenbau-Gesellschaft
in Wien hat in dankbarer Anerkennung der grossen Verdienste welche Euer Hochwohlgeboren
sich um die Hebung der Horticultur durch die Einführung zahlreicher, botanisch und
gärtnerisch wichtiger Gewächse, sowie durch Ihr wissenschaftlichen ausgezeichneten
Leistungen im Gebiethe der Pflanzenkunde erworben haben, einstimmig zum
Ehren-Mitgliede
unser Gesellschaft erwählt.
Indem es uns zum besondere Vergnügen gereicht Euer Hochwohlgeboren von dieser Ernennung,
welche die Reihe unser hervorragendsten Mitglieder mit einem so illustren Namen vermehrt,
in Kenntniss zu setzen, schmeicheln wir uns dass die uns von Euer Hochwohlgeboren
seit eine Reihe von Jahren als unser correspondirendes Mitglied bewiesene Förderung
horticoler Zwecke den Bestrebungen unser Gesellschaft in dieser Richtung auch ferner
wie bisher geschenkt werde und verharren mit dem Ausdrucke ausgezeichneter Hochachtung

To the honourable Royal Botanist Ferdinand Baron Mueller in Melbourne
The general meeting of the Imperial Royal Horticultural Society in Vienna held on
25 April this year has unanimously elected you as Honorary Member of our Society in
grateful recognition of the great services that your honour has earned for the improvement
of horticulture through the introduction of numerous botanically and horticulturally
important plants, as well as through your excellent scientific achievements in the
field of plant studies.
While giving us particular satisfaction in informing your honour of this appointment
that increases the ranks of our most prominent members with such an illustrious name,
we flatter ourselves that the promotion of horticultural objectives shown to us by
your honour for a series of years as our Corresponding Member will be given to the
endeavours of our society in this direction even further than previously and we remain
with the expression of distinguished respect
