See, for example, J. Hooker to M, 11 July 1869 and May 14 1870, and M's responses to letters not found, for example, M to J. Hooker, September 1869. No such request occurs in surviving letters from Hooker in 1879 or 1880.
Herewith a few. But the seeds of drupaceous must be enucleated , as the small seeds could not burst the hard putamen. Nature helps in this way, by the bush-fires, which scorch the endocarp. I found a rasp the best implement to set free the seeds.
