Of Coff’s Harbour, NSW. Letter not found. For the text given here, see Australische Zeitung , 23 December 1896, p. 11. In his article on ‘Gold an der Nordkuste von Neusüdwales’ [Gold on the north coast of New South Wales], Rieck introduces the text as follows: ‘Baron von Müller, schrieb mir im Jahre 1881, als ich ihm meine Niederlassung hier mitteilte und ihm die wunderbare reiche Flora dieses Landstriches beschrieb, ua.’ [Baron von Mueller wrote to me in the year 1881 when I informed him of my settling here and described to him the wonderful rich flora of this district &c.].

Lassen Sie doch, lieber Landsmann Rieck, etwas von Ihrem schönen Urwald stehen und roden Sie nicht Alles grausam aus; sonst verderben Sie sich sicher ihr mildes schönes Klima &c’.
