Hochverehrtester Hr. Baron!

Mit dem heutigen Dampfer remittierte ich Ihnen wiederum ein kleines Packet Pflanzen, worunter wahrscheinlich einige neu für mich sein werden.

Von der 975 habe ich bis jetzt keine Exemplare bekommen können, da die Schafe in der Nachbarschaft alles verwüsten und weiter herum bin ich neulich nicht gekommen.

Von 990, sp., habe ich nur eine Pflanze gefunden, auf sandigem Boden mit Granit. Unterlage.

Ebenso von dem (?), mit ungetheilten Blättern (auf Lehmboden). The crimsonflowering Lasiopetalum (989) I found in one instance among the white L. Baueri in Muloowurtie. No. 996 liegt dicht am Boden, mit vielen Ranken u. hat weisse Blümchen (Muloowurtie). 997 ist ebenfalls rankend, hat aber nur wenige Ranken u. Rosenrothe Blumen.

998 wächst aufrecht. Beide nahe Macklin's farm, Maitland Road. — Da dass erste Tausend Spezimen voll ist, so habe ich wieder mit No.1 angefangen. sp. 10 kommt in Yorke Valley vor, ist aber selten. No.14 kommt zwischen dem Grase auf steinigem Boden vor u. ist wohl das kleinste blühende Pflänzchen hier u. wächst ganz dicht gedrängt. Die Acotyledonen 15-19 wachsen auf Silur. Formationen im Schatten der Büsche. No.20 auf Bay of Biscay nahe Granit.

Die 894 sandte ich früher mit Samen allein; dieselbe kommt nur auf einer Stelle vor mit 20.

Die Kochia 22 ist diejenige, von der ich Früher schrieb, dass ich glaube es sei nicht K. villosa, wegen ihrer bedeutenden Abweichung im Habitus. No.25 ist ein , den ich in Muloowurtie auf Granit Sandboden fand, aber noch nicht in Blüthe; die Stelle ist etwa 9-10 Miles von hier. Den beiden andern Eucalypten sind Notizen beigelegt. Ich habe einige frische Spezimen der beigelegt mit voll entwickelten Früchten, die keiner andern hier vorkommenden Art ähnlich sind; seltsam ist die eigenthümlich gefleckte Farbe derselben, wo der Same ausgesetzt. Nur einen Strauch davon kenne ich hier, auf Silur-Sandstein; nur etwa 8 Zoll hoch, sehr dicht halbkugelförmig, auf offener Lage, an der Grenze des Mallee scrubs. Besten Dank für Uebersendung des letzten Heftes der "Fragmenta"; es hat mich sehr erfreut, besonders in Betreff Ihrer freundlichen Aufmerksamkeit für mich wegen der neuen Pflanzen. Meine "Native Plants" werden Sie wohl empfangen haben; auch habe ich ein Exemplar an Dr. Woolls u. die Linnean Soc. geschickt. Mit ergebenstem Grusse u. grösster Hochachtung

I was unable to get any more specimens of the 975,

as the sheep have destroyed everything in the neighbourhood and I did not get any further out recently. I have found only one plant of 990 sp., on sandy soil with granitic substrate. The same with the (?) with the undivided leaves (on clayey soil).

The crimson-flowering Lasiopetalum (989) I found in one instance among the white L. baueri in Muloowurtie.

No. 996 lies close to the ground with many runners, and has little white flowers (Muloowurtie). 997 is also creeping but has only few runners and rose-red flowers. 998 grows erect. Both near Macklin's Farm, Maitland Road. — As the first thousand of specimens is complete, I have started once again with No. 1.

sp. 10 occurs in Yorke Valley,

but is rare. No. 14 occurs amongst grass on stony ground and is probably the smallest flowering plant here and grows densely crowded. The Acotyledons 15-19 grow on Silur.

near granite. The 893 I sent earlier with seed only, it occurs in only one place with 20. The Kochia 22 is the one of which I wrote earlier that I think it is not K. villosa because of its significant difference in habit. No. 25 is a that I found in Muloowurtie on granitic sandy soil but not yet in flower; the locality is about 9-10 miles from here. The two other eucalypts have notes accompanying them. I have also enclosed a few fresh specimens of the , with fully developed fruit that are not like those of any other species here; they are odd in the strange spotty colour where the seed is exposed. I know only one bush of it here, on Silurian sandstone, only about 8 inches high, very dense, hemispherical, in an open position at the border of the Mallee scrub.

Many thanks for the transmission of the last part of the Fragmenta; I was very pleased, especially on account of your friendly courtesy towards me with the new plants.
