Letter not found. The text given here is from a report of the Scientific Committee of the Royal Horticultural Society held on 16 November 1880, Gardeners' chronicle , 20 November 1880, p. 665. The letter is dated to September as the latest likely date that it could have been sent to have been reported at this meeting. However, this was the first meeting held since the summer recess, and 'the number of objects brought forward was large', so it may have been sent earlier.
[ Fasciation, &c. — Dr. Masters exhibited [specimens] … From Baron Ferd. v. Mueller came a remarkably curious looking specimen of fasciated . All these specimens were destined for the Museum at Kew.
