My dear Baron,
The enclosed specimens of Iron Bark have been generally referred to " E. siderophloia " the "large leaved" or "White Iron Bark;" but I am very doubtful, whether that with the short operculum is of the same species. What do you think? The trees differ in appearance & the wood is not exactly alike.
If the one from Emu

is distinct, I should imagine that it is of the same species as the Iron Bark Box from Cabramatta.

Both of these trees are perfectly distinct from E. paniculata & E. crebra or E. sideroxylon .
The specimens forwarded are old, but should you think the matter worthy of consideration, I will procure fresh ones in the spring or summer
Yours very sincerely
