Towards Flora Australiensis

In the two previous estimates no provision for expenditure in the relevant quarter
had been made; see M to G. Berry, 7 September 1878 and notes thereto, and M to G. Berry, 28 January 1880. Although no approval of requests to use this budget line for support of a collector
in preparation of an updated supplement has been found, the first estimate for the next financial year, M to R. Ramsay, 29 July 1880, includes £125 for the line 'Towards Flora Australiensis' in the 'Particulars of Vote'. When Parliament approved the votes for 1880-81 on 21 December
1880, the sum was retained, desscribed as 'Collector of Plants for a new edition of
the Flora Australiensis' (Victoria,
Votes and Proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, session 1880
