Referring to my letter of 13th May of last year,
I have the honor to inform you, that I have now secured the remainder of the Acacia
seeds required to complete the order of the Government of Bombay. I beg to append
the account;
the bill of lading will be forwarded to you this evening; a duplicate will be sent
direct to Bombay in the ship's box. The seeds are carefully packed and the insurance
effected.

Letters were sent from the Chief Secretary's Office to the Chief Secretary of the
Government of Bombay on 5 March and 9 March 1880 (letters not found). The file was
annotated by Odgers on 12 March 1880: 'The account has been passed to the Treasury
for payment. The Government Botanist is requested to note and return.' M replied the
next day: 'Returned with best thanks for information'.
On 15 September 1880, E. Symonds, Under Treasurer, wrote to Odgers: 'With reference
to your memorandum of the 21st May last, forwarding an account (£47:13/-) for the
purchase money of certain seeds shipped for the Government of India, I beg to inform
you that a remittance to the amount named has been received from the Accountant General,
Bombay' (P79/8435, unit 1133, VPRS 3991/P, Public Record Office, Victoria).
