To the Editor.
Dear Sir, —
You will have seen copies of the decades of my ‘ Atlas,’
2
B79.13.11.
and as the work is to include also the species of your vast colonial territory, I would venture to ask whether you would make an appeal through your valuable journal to colonists in remote localities, to dry for me branchlets of all (gum trees) of their district, in bud, in flower and fruit. If such, so easily dried and despatched specimens, are accompanied by note on height, soil, bark, gum (kino), timber, time of flowering, native names, etc., their value would be greatly enhanced.
I am somewhat disappointed in my hope to have been able to interest Western Australians and induce them to collect; as yet I have got scarcely anything.
Regardfully yours,
FERD. V. MUELLER
