My dear Baron,
I send you by this mail a copy of the Railway Guide in which you will find my article, & some excellent ones by Mr Wilkinson.

The Railway guide of New South Wales (Sydney, 1879) included an article by Woolls, 'Remarks on the flora of the Blue Mountains', and others by the geologist C. S. Wilkinson.
Yesterday I was compelled to go to Baulkam Hills near Parramatta, & there I found the White Mahogany in flower ( E. acmenoides .) I send you some fresh flowers.
This tree is a species quite distinct from the Black-butt (E. pilularis ). Instead of being half-barked as E. pilularis , it has a bark very similar to that of the Stringy Bark, though not so fibrous. The flowers & fruit are smaller; the wood whitish, hard & ornamental when polished; the trees not so large as the Blackbutt, & flowering plentifully just now.
I will attend to your wishes respecting E. punctata as soon as I can.
Yours very sincerely
W Woolls
