The entries for the items 'Paper for lithograms' and 'Towards Flora Australiensis' have been crossed out. M had earlier sought permission to use the latter allocation to employ a collector, or 'the purchase of plants purposelly collected' (see M to W. Odgers, 27 September 1879) and, it would appear, had already spent some money in that way. Since the 7th and final volume of Flora australiensis had appeared in March 1878, such expenditure could only have been justified as being directed towards the preparation of the envisaged supplementary volume, which was never in fact published.

This figure was first reduced to 325 16 8, corresponding to the deletion of the item for 'Paper for Lithograms', and then reduced to 164 following the changing of all figures to cover one month's expenditure rather than two.
