Search for Leptorrhynchus elongatus in

sorgsam gegangen, lieber Hr. Tepper, u finde nun, dass sich der Name L. elongatus DC für die grosse Art anhalten lässt, obgleich ihn die meisten spätere Autoren auf die kleinere Species mit gelben Blumen u lang geschnäbelten kleinen Frucht angewandt haben. Für letztere ist der älteste Name L. medius, Cunningham u als synonym gehört dazu L. rhytidanthe Bentham.

Search for Leptorrhynchus elongatus in

and now find that the name L. elongatus DC is attached to the large species, although most later authors have applied it to the small species with yellow flowers and long-beaked small fruit. For the latter, the oldest name is L. medius Cunningham, and L. rhytidanthe Bentham belongs to it as synonym.

Is the root of the larger species perennial and that of the small really always annual? You can best ascertain this there, also the possible constancy of the flower colour.
