MS found with a specimen of Eucalyptus goniocalyx (MEL 704017). MS annotation by M: 'Acknow 12/9/79'. Letter not found.
Dear Sir Ferdinand,
No 2
— The enclosed is from Wirrabara.
The tree has a different appearance to any other in the forest. It resembles somewhat
E. odorata, but from your plates and description I am inclined to look upon it as
"
E. diversicolor
."

SA.
No 1. Also from Wirrabara — Bark persistent — of a grey-white color, tree found growing
in good soil in a ravine — No 1. is foliage in sapling state, and No 2 that of matured
tree. Is this E. odorata? Mr Goyder observed this particular tree many years ago,
and with myself is anxious to have its proper name.
I am afraid that I am imposing too much upon your kindness by troubling you so often.
Yours very truly,
J. E. Brown
Sir Ferd Von Mueller.
