Melbourne.
Dear Sir,
Will you please find enclosed a creeping fern, I lately found among a large variety, growing in the cracks of an over-hanging rock, and where the water constantly drips, all year round, from the cracks. The fern hangs down and the tendrils grow through and through each other, till they form a most beautiful looking carpet, of a light tender green color. The specimen I send is eight feet long. A second smaller fern has long narrow finger like leaves, growing at the same place. Will you kindly tell me their names, as you did of the plants I send you last year, as these ferns are new to me, and I have only seen them growing in the one place. At the same place are a number of other common sorts, and also the Tree fern, like the Victorian,
I remain
Yours faithfully
Charles D. Barber
