Letter not found. The text given here is from 'The Eucalypt Atlas', California farmer and journal of useful sciences, 17 July 1879, p. 97. It is dated to June 1879 as the earliest date that it could have been sent to have been reported in this issue of the newspaper.

which, added to those known, make a list of one hundred and seventy kinds.
First decade of Eucalypt now described, of this great work, shows it to be one of great value and importance, it is beyond price valuable and reflects the highest honors upon this truly distinguished Botanist.
